The housing market is always a key indicator for how the economy is faring and restrictions regarding movement put in place following the onslaught of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis will undoubtedly mean a fall in new homes sales and delivery of housing this year. Property developers therefore are looking to the technology of ‘virtual viewings’ to help keep the housing market moving.
To enable customers to view properties from the comfort of their own homes, Windsor-based quality developer Langham Homes has uploaded walk through videos to its new website of every show home currently being marketed. However, there are those that would argue that there’s nothing that can compensate for viewing a potential new home in person. To this end, Langham Homes is also committed to offering self-guided show home visits so that visitors are able to adhere to strict social distancing guidelines.
Tony K. Pidgley, managing director of Langham Homes says: “We are aware that many people were in the midst of a new home search before the pandemic hit and we want to assure our customers that we now have some stringent health & safety measures in places following our decision to halt all construction for the past four weeks. Now that we have had the opportunity to review our marketing strategies. whilst closing adhering to government guidelines, we are able to offer self-guided visits to two of our show homes at The Exchange, New Malden and Pavilion Park, East Molesey”.
Langham Homes has strict procedures in position, but anyone interested in this new service can contact them and arrange a viewing time. Half an hour prior to this appointment, one member of staff will open the show home and leave full PPE for use on arrival. Following a visitor’s look round, the PPE will be disposed of and the show home will be fully cleaned before any further appointments take place.
Tony concludes: “We are confident that we are able to operate this service in a safe and sanitized environment fully observing the government’s social distancing and sanitation guidelines. We feel that the disruption due to Coronavirus will be short lived and anticipate continued demand for residential development as we plan our construction output over the coming years. The construction industry is a fundamental component of the UK’s economy and because of the indefinite nature of the lockdown, it’s important that we start to develop new procedures so that when the lockdown is relaxed, we can return to full operational status as quickly as possible”.
