The wild and windy weather certainly didn’t dampen the Christmas spirit as a successful event and presentation took place today, 10 December at the Langham Homes’ development Pavilion Park located in Hurst Lane, East Molesey.
Visitors gathered around the huge 24ft Nordic Christmas tree and Christmas cabin both sited at the entrance to Pavilion Park and Langham Homes was fortunate to welcome some very special guests. The Deputy Mayor and his consort from Elmbridge Borough Council, Councillor Tony Popham and Mrs Jo Wright joined Tony Pidgley, Managing Director of Langham Homes to present a cheque for £2,500 to Mark Bryant, Executive Head of Walton Leigh School, Walton-on-Thames, for young people aged 11-19 with severe and complex learning difficulties. Also joining in the festive celebrations was a children’s choir from neighbouring St Lawrence C of E Junior school with Deputy Head Sally Carey who ensured that everyone was in fine voice as the choir entertained the guests with some favourite Christmas carols. Perhaps the most important guest was Father Christmas who took time out from his busy schedule to present the children with some early presents which were very gratefully received.
Tony Pidgley, Managing Director of Langham Homes says: “We were made aware of the amazing fundraising that Jim Cooper, who’s a neighbour of Pavilion Park, does every Christmas for Walton Leigh School, Walton-on-Thames by festooning his house and garden in hundreds of decorations and lights. He works as an escort for the children in the school and has raised thousands of pounds in the past, so we wanted to join in the community spirit with our own seasonal event to contribute to the school’s fundraising.
We are delighted to make a donation to Walton Leigh School that will benefit the children there and hope that they and the children from our neighbouring St Lawrence Junior School in East Molesey enjoyed their visit to our tree and Christmas grotto. Also worthy of a mention are all the sub-contractors on-site who got well and truly into the spirit of the event with a plethora of Christmas jumpers! We are delighted to report that today’s event has got the season of goodwill well and truly started”.
